About us

Welcome to Sveti Lovreč – a hidden gem of western Istria, where nature, history, and the sky come together in a unique experience. Here, on a hill surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, lies a medieval town – a peaceful oasis with a view that stretches all the way to the Lim Channel.
Sveti Lovreč has only 960 inhabitants, but its rich history and charm are evident in every stone. It is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Istria, whose symbol is the small Church of St. Lawrence from the 8th century – a quiet witness to a time that still lives on within its walls.

METEOR SHOWER

Each year, in the heart of nature and far from the city bustle and lights, our olive groves become the stage for one of the most magnificent celestial spectacles — the Perseids, also known as the Tears of St. Lawrence.
This natural phenomenon gathers scientists and skywatching enthusiasts, who revel in the magic visible to the naked eye. The peak of activity, when up to 80 meteors per hour can streak across the sky, coincides with the feast day of St. Lawrence, which is why the Perseids are often referred to as the Tears of St. Lawrence.
Looking up at the stars here is not just a glance at the sky, but an invitation to contemplation, connection, and pure enjoyment.
Experiencing the magic of the night sky in the atmosphere of olive scent, the silence of nature, and the brilliance of meteors streaking across the dark sky is an unforgettable experience.

Because there are places you don’t just visit – you remember them.
